A Message From Amy Stockero
Humane Society of West Michigan holds such a special place in my heart. Not only do we help thousands of animals, but we also support families that love their pets but have fallen on financial hardship. Being a part of this organization I have been humbled by the impact of this work. I have loved many of the animals that have passed through our doors, and said goodbyes to them as they leave for their next adventure. I have watched our staff pour all they have into case after case. I have watched us heal puppies from parvovirus, put animals back together, taught dogs what sunshine and grass is, and worked tirelessly with animals that have been abused to gain the tiniest sliver of trust. The work is endless, and more than anything we need help from the community to keep doing this. They need us. Please consider helping with any donation to this fundraising page. I will personally match any gift up to the goal.
This video is Oakley, a dog who was with us for months and was smarter than most humans. He was too smart to be in our kennels day in and day out. We worried about him constantly. His high energy and intelligence is not a good mix for overwhelming kennel space. Oakley was a great runner, so a couple times a week I would run him. Other staff would do sleepovers and field trips. Oakley was adopted this past week into an outdoorsy family from Colorado and it couldn’t be a better fit for him.

In Support of Humane Society of West Michigan
Humane Society of West Michigan, a 501(c)3 non profit organization, assists over 8,000 animals annually. We are 100% donor-funded! We receive no funding from the government or national animal welfare organizations. Caring individuals and businesses in our community support our mission to rescue hurt, abused and abandoned animals and find them a new forever home. Additional programs help reduce pet overpopulation, provide assistance to low income pet owners, behaviorally assess animals and reunite lost pets with their owners.
