A Message From Sara Christenson
Three years ago I adopted my sweet sassy little Sookie Sue (formerly Suzie Q.) from the Humane Society of West Michigan. I went to the rescue hoping to bring home a lab but left there thinking about Sookie. She was the longest serving dog in the shelter at that time and yet a staff favorite. She had been there so long because the shelter felt it was important for her to have a single mom with no children or other animals. She needed exercise and cuddle time. I walked in with a shirt from a former race and they felt they might have found the right momma for Sookie. They interviewed me, had me complete an application, and sat with me to observe my time with Sookie. They then let me take her on a walk and Sookie won me over. She came to me sad, lonely, and scared. Today she is happy, sassy, spoiled, and loving. She makes me laugh everyday. We both have the Humane Society of West Michigan to thank. They did a great job pairing us up and we are forever thankful!

In Support of Humane Society of West Michigan
Humane Society of West Michigan, a 501(c)3 non profit organization, assists over 8,000 animals annually. We are 100% donor-funded! We receive no funding from the government or national animal welfare organizations. Caring individuals and businesses in our community support our mission to rescue hurt, abused and abandoned animals and find them a new forever home. Additional programs help reduce pet overpopulation, provide assistance to low income pet owners, behaviorally assess animals and reunite lost pets with their owners.
